Online High School Boys' Social Communication Group

Our online Social Communication Group provides a relaxed, inclusive and supportive environment for high school boys to connect with peers, build friendships and develop functional social communication skills.

Facilitated by qualified Speech Pathologists, the group combines structured speech pathology intervention with natural, interest-based interactions, including conversations, online games and collaborative activities.

Each participant works towards individualised speech pathology goals, with opportunities to develop and practise skills in meaningful social situations.

The group focuses on:

  • Developing and maintaining meaningful friendships and peer connections.
  • Initiating, maintaining and participating in conversations.
  • Developing receptive and expressive language skills.
  • Sharing interests, experiences, thoughts and opinions.
  • Building confidence, self-advocacy and independence.
  • Developing collaborative problem-solving, turn-taking and communication repair skills.
  • Understanding and expressing emotions, preferences and personal boundaries.
  • Supporting social communication and emotional regulation.

Our neuroaffirming approach recognises that everyone communicates differently. Therapy is embedded into engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage authentic interactions, meaningful participation and opportunities to generalise communication skills beyond therapy sessions.
